Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of CalcPerks (calcperks.com). They are written to be read, not to be skimmed past — so they are short and in plain English.

Accepting these terms

By visiting CalcPerks or using any calculator on it, you agree to what is set out below. If you don't agree with something here, the right thing to do is simply stop using the site.

What we provide

CalcPerks is a set of free online calculators. There is no account, no subscription and no paywall, and we don't ask you to pay for anything. The site is funded by advertising.

Everything is provided “as is” and “as available”. We build and test our tools carefully, but we make no promise that the site will always be online, that every feature will work in every browser, or that a tool will still exist tomorrow in the form it takes today. We may add, change, pause or retire calculators at any time.

Accuracy — what we do and don't promise

Each calculator implements a published, named formula, and we state that formula on the page so you can check our working. What we cannot promise is that a result fits your situation. Calculators simplify: they don't know your lender's fee schedule, your local tax rules, or your medical history.

So we give no warranty — express or implied — that any result is accurate, complete, current or fit for a particular purpose. Treat every figure as an estimate to be checked, not as a decision. Our Disclaimer goes into detail on this, especially for the finance and health tools.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, CalcPerks and the people who run it are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or from reliance on a result it produced. That includes lost money, lost profits, lost data, missed deadlines and any indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited — for example, liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Acceptable use

Use the site the way a normal visitor would. Specifically, please do not:

  • scrape, crawl aggressively, bulk-download or systematically copy our pages, content or calculation logic, whether by hand or with automated tools;
  • run bots, scripts or load generators that put unreasonable strain on the site;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers or any connected system;
  • reverse-engineer the site to rebuild it as a competing service;
  • republish our written content as your own; or
  • use the site for anything unlawful, or to help anyone else do any of the above.

Ordinary search-engine crawling that respects our robots.txt is welcome. If you want to use our data at volume for research or a project, ask us first — we are usually happy to say yes.

Intellectual property

The design, code, written explanations, worked examples, FAQs and the CalcPerks name and branding belong to us and are protected by copyright and other rights. You may read, print and share links to our pages; you may not copy the content wholesale onto another site.

Your results are yours. The numbers you type in and the answers a calculator gives you are yours to use however you like — in a spreadsheet, a report, a client quote or a blog post. We claim no ownership over them and ask for no credit. The underlying formulas are, of course, public mathematics that nobody owns.

Third-party links and advertising

Some pages link to outside websites — a tax authority, a standards body, a reference source. We link to them because they are useful, not because we control them. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement.

CalcPerks carries advertising, and those ads are served by third parties including Google. We choose the ad slots, but we do not choose or approve the individual ads that appear in them. An ad on this site is not a recommendation from us, and any dealing you have with an advertiser is between you and them. How advertising affects your data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes or as the law requires. The current version always lives at this address, and the “last updated” date below tells you when it last moved. If we make a change that materially affects you, we'll make it obvious rather than quietly swapping the text. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable where CalcPerks is operated, and disputes will be handled by the courts of that jurisdiction. Where your local consumer-protection law gives you rights that cannot be signed away, those rights still apply and nothing here is intended to remove them.
